Role

Support Worker – Wokingham #WorkWithCarly

Part-Time | Days from £12.34 per hour

We are recruiting a team of remarkable people to support Carly. This is what Carly is looking for, in her own words:

Hi, my name’s Carly – I’m a fun-loving, young woman living independently in my own flat close to Wokingham railway station. I have a learning disability and am looking for a Support Worker who has good humour, is upbeat and likes to go out. I build good relationships with people who are firm but fair, keep boundaries and plan in advance what we are doing together.

I would like the same person to support me for you to get to know me and be familiar with my routines, so you must be able to commit to the following days;

  • Mondays – 10am – 9pm
  • Wednesdays – 12pm – 8pm
  • Every other Friday – 5pm – 10pm

I work at Optalis’ Head Office in Wokingham, assisting with admin tasks and inducting new staff. When I’m not working, my interests include;

  • ♀️ I like to go swimming especially when my Support Worker gets in the pool with me – it’s more fun
  • ️ I regularly go to the Cinema in Winnersh and I enjoy all types of films; my favourite films are Disney and Marvel
  • ️ I also enjoy looking in the shops such as JD Sports, Next, M&S and HMV
  • I go to Hollywood Bowl and am very competitive!
  • ➡️ I like walking in open spaces and parks around Wokingham
  • ️ I meet my best friends for meals at Nandos, Toby Carvery and Zizzi’s
  • I go to discos as part of Friday nights out

What I’m looking for in my support worker;

  • Be firm, but fair and able to maintain boundaries
  • Understanding of my routines and able to support me with activities
  • Confident swimmer able to support me in the pool
  • Respectful of my privacy and personal space
  • Able to anticipate my needs while encouraging my independence
  • Willing to learn about my specific needs and condition
  • Positive, kind, and committed
  • Able to support me on the train for days out

As a Support Worker, your role will be to support me in my day-to-day life with things like cooking, cleaning and shopping. I will need support with personal care (prompting, washing hair, personal tasks) and socialising, including appointments, events and outings.
