Overview

Our Sunderland service assists clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We require enthusiastic, caring individuals to take them out on day trips to the beach, shopping or local coffee shops. We have a variety of shifts including days, weekends, and sleep overs. If you love 10-pin bowling, can hunt out a charity shop bargain or love to cook, this rewarding job could be for you.

Responsibilities
  • Person-centred: Prepare person-centred support plans with clients which reflect their views and aspirations and respect their beliefs and opinions, reviewing and amending them as necessary and considering the client's changing needs and wishes.
  • Respectful: Support clients to fulfil their aspirations, supporting them to live as independently as possible, in accordance with their skills and abilities. This may include accompanying them on social visits and events, supporting them with their interests and hobbies, promoting choice, arranging activities and outings, and developing their skills and knowledge.
  • Open: Communicate in an open and transparent way with clients and other team members, acting with integrity and doing what you say that you will do.
  • Understanding: Where required you may be asked to provide personal care to clients in a way that respects their choices and dignity, including assistance with washing and toileting.
  • Dedicated: Keep appropriate, accurate records, including daily notes, with full involvement of the client.
  • Willing to provide an appropriate level of care and support to clients, in accordance with their care plan including personal care.

This homely service is set in Sunderland (SR4) close to public transport routes; holding a valid UK driving license is desirable to drive the client vehicles. We require a manual and automatic drivers. As a Support Worker, you will provide high quality care and support to our clients to enable them to live their best life. You will be passionate in making a difference to our client's lives, helping them to fulfil their aspirations and ambitions. Experience of working with clients with challenging behaviour is desirable.

Requirements
  • Understanding of the importance of maintaining accurate written and numerical records.
  • Ability to undertake a wide range of personal care and domestic duties (specific to each service).
  • Able to carry out the physical requirements of the role including climbing stairs, using hoists/pushing wheelchairs/moving people, night work as required.
  • Understanding of adjustments in line with the Equality Act where these criteria cannot be met due to a disability.
  • Understand or willing to learn how to use computer packages (Word, Outlook, Internet) and to undertake relevant training and qualification in care if required.
  • Able to work cooperatively as a team member.
  • Able to liaise and communicate effectively with carers, families, inspectors and other external stakeholders.
  • UK Driving license is essential.
  • Sleep-ins may be required.
