A support organization in Plymouth is looking for a compassionate individual to assist a person with autism in daily activities. This role involves providing transport, supporting hobbies, and fostering independence through creative methods. Ideal candidates should be motivated, humorous, and willing to develop their skills. The role offers competitive salaries and numerous benefits including a pension, sick pay, and extensive training opportunities.
With Mike, work doesn’t need to feel like work. One day you might be pottering in the garden sowing seeds, the next you might be off looking for pirate treasures and bottles washed up onshore.
Mike is autistic with a learning disability and needs support in understanding the ‘why’ and the ‘how’. The team supports creative and unique ways of helping his understanding, such as creating a bespoke newspaper that has helped Mike develop and think more about his health and trying new things.
Day shifts are 9am to 9pm and waking nights are 9pm to 9am. The rota is planned in advance to support a good work/life balance. There is an in-depth team induction to support you in the role.
We are committed to safeguarding and apply robust recruitment and selection procedures to ensure the right fit for the job. All candidates are appropriately screened prior to appointment, including obtaining references and DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) clearance. A DBS check may be requested if offered a position; the cost is borne by the employee and will be reimbursed after successful completion of a 6-month probation period.
