Support Worker for a Fun, Energetic 10-Year-Old Boy with Complex Needs

Ref: WC1350

Location: Westbury

Drivers licence required: Yes

Own vehicle needed: Yes

Employment status: Employed

Hours per week: 20 hours per month term time plus 16 hours per week during school holidays

Hourly pay rate: £13.46 per hour

This role is to support a child.

The candidate will support a lively 10‑year‑old boy who loves music, water, and outdoor activities. He is non‑verbal and has complex needs due to a chromosome deletion that affects his communication and understanding. The role involves ensuring the boy’s safety, facilitating fun and engaging experiences, especially during school holidays, and providing one‑to‑one support to help him stay safe, have fun, and enjoy new experiences.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and joining in structured activities that make his days exciting and engaging.
  • Providing and planning structured activities and creative play.
  • Transporting the boy to appointments or outings as required.
  • Companionship and supervision to ensure safety, as he lacks danger awareness.
  • Assisting with toileting and basic hygiene.
  • Using PECS and some Makaton signs to encourage his communication.
  • Other relevant duties as required.

  • Able to follow instructions and work on own initiative.
  • Hygienic, tidy, and well organised.
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties.
