Support Worker – Adult Services

Are you passionate about helping autistic adults and those with learning disabilities achieve their desired potential? Autism Anglia, a well-established independent charity, is looking for Support Workers to join our dedicated team at our Adult Services Team in Colchester, Essex.

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with individuals to help them develop life skills, achieve personal goals, and thrive in a safe and supportive environment.

Salary

£16,878.69 per annum (£12.45 per hour)

Hours

Part-time: from 26 hours per week, Full-time positions also available

About The Role

As a Support Worker, you will:

  • Work in partnership with the team to provide person-centred, outcome-focused support.
  • Maintain the dignity, privacy, and wellbeing of each individual, assisting with personal care, health, and hygiene.
  • Support individuals in a variety of activities, including sport, leisure, cultural and recreational events, day trips, and holidays.
  • Assist with communication, sensory support, or psychological monitoring and interventions.
  • Ensure all support plans, risk assessments, and documentation are accurate, up-to-date, and reflective of individual needs.
  • Follow Safeguarding procedures and act promptly on any concerns.
What We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals who:

  • Have experience as a Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant (HCA), Carer, Senior Support Worker, or Team Leader, preferably with autism or learning disabilities.
  • Hold a full UK manual driving licence.
  • Can identify and support the needs, wishes, and aspirations of individuals with communication needs.
  • Are experienced in providing intensive behavioural support.
  • Have strong communication skills and experience coordinating activities in the local area.
