Job summary

Royal Mencap Society is seeking compassionate Support Workers to join our Doncaster team in the community and in their own homes. You will help individuals with learning disabilities live independently and participate in local activities, while supporting daily tasks and personal care where needed.

The role offers full-time hours with additional shift flexibility and a benefits package. A valid driver’s license is required to access clients’ homes and communities.

Support Worker

Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Support Workers to join our incredible team in the Doncaster Community.

As a Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs within their own homes and out in the community, you’ll play a vital role in their life.

Typical Responsibilities

• Supporting people to live independently
• Budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments, and cooking healthy meals
• Community and social inclusion – supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills
• Personal care – helping people to get ready for the day, prompting medication, and assisting with bathing, showering, and using the bathroom (not all roles include high levels of personal care)

What we're looking for

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities
• Requirement to be a driver

Contract options

• Full‑time: 37.5 hrs
• Part‑time: flexible hours based on availability

Shift times

Shifts will be spread across mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
