Job summary

Caretech in Mid Devon is seeking passionate individuals to support our young people in a residential home setting. The residents are profoundly deaf and use British Sign Language to communicate; you will support daily living and help maintain a safe, inclusive environment. Knowledge of BSL is desirable; courses will be offered.

Specialist equipment and facilities are provided. You will be part of a dedicated team with on‑the‑job training, DBS and reference checks carried out in line with

Job description

We are looking for individuals to support our young people in a residential home setting in Mid Devon. These individuals are profoundly deaf, and need support in their day to day life.

All of the young adults use British Sign Language to communicate and all communication is supported by AAC devices and visual imagery.

Some Knowledge of BSL is desired however courses would be offered in line with current experience and qualifications.

Specialist equipment and facilities are provided to support the challenges faced with the sensory loss, such as; specialist fire systems, vibrating pads, access to a minicom and internet connection for face time or skype.

As part of the team you will be working closely with other local organisations and services to offer a wide choice of activities, hobbies, educational input and support to attend Deaf events and integration into the Deaf community. As well as the day to day running of the home and supporting the residential daily needs.

You will be supported by a dedicated core team and on job training.

Requirements for DBS and reference checking will be under-taken in line with government regulations and safer recruitment best practice.
