Job description

We have a fantastic new opportunity to join us and support our d/Deaf service users in Blackburn. We are looking for confident Care & Support Workers with the passion to both deliver outstanding care, alongside play a role in empowering d/Deaf service users to access the same recovery opportunities as their hearing peers. You will be working Full time (42 hours per week) across a mixed shift pattern of 3/4 12 hour shifts per week with a focus on supporting our d/Deaf (profound, severe, partial or hard of hearing) service users with mental health needs, inside our new Deaf community step down setting in Blackburn. This role requires native British Sign Language usage or a minimum Signature Level 2 as it is a deaf service.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide care and support to d/Deaf service users with mental health needs.
  • Work in a mixed shift pattern of 3/4 12 hour shifts per week, fully engaging with the team.
  • Facilitate recovery opportunities and empower d/Deaf users to access services comparable to hearing peers.

About the service

Vincent Court is a five‑bed community rehabilitation (level 1) service for deaf men who have progressed through the hospital pathway at Cygnet Bury Dunes (Bridgehampton Ward). We also accept referrals from other high‑support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) services, other low‑secure services, and directly from the community. This setting offers a safe, comfortable and homely environment that enables individuals to focus on continued recovery and transition back into a more independent lifestyle, with ongoing access to a multidisciplinary team (MDT) at Cygnet Bury Dunes.
