Overview
Forest Lodge is a 22‑bedded Low Secure Forensic Service that delivers high‑quality assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and recovery to individuals who require care in a secure environment.
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated support worker to join our team. The unit focuses on the treatment and care of people with major and complex mental health and physical health needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement identified care plans for service users under the direction of qualified staff, ensuring needs are met within their care plans.
- Document details of the patient’s participation in the care plan accurately and timely.
- Empower service users in decision‑making and involve them in a wide range of activities, using local facilities where possible.
- Accompany patients on Section 17 leave, community visits and other arranged outings.
- Plan appropriate menus and assist with purchasing and catering when required.
- Develop, lead and evaluate group activities relevant to the patients’ needs.
- Report behaviours, untoward occurrences and any concerns to a qualified nurse for immediate reassessment.
- Assist patients with maintaining contact with friends and relatives, including visits and letter writing.
- Adhere to the Trust’s policies on risk management, health & safety, confidentiality and fire procedures.
- Engage in regular supervision, annual appraisal and maintain DBS Update Service membership.
Key Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant experience working with individuals who have complex mental health and physical health needs.
- Desire to achieve NVQ Level 2 / Care Certificate (training will be provided where possible).
- Basic computer skills including email and standard office software.
- Ability to work full‑time and rotate through day, night and weekend shifts in a 24‑hour service.
- Possession of a valid driver’s licence and reliable access to a car for daily duties.
