About The Role

We specialise in residential care, supporting people with autism and learning difficulties. We constantly strive to provide homes with a relaxed atmosphere that promotes individuality, giving each person we support the right to dignity, choice, privacy and independence.

Championing the integration of people into the community, by using local facilities such as shops, cafes, libraries, public houses and leisure centres – drawing on public and private transport for outings or holidays.

We are seeking a Support Worker to join our team in Durham. Position: Support Worker. Location: Durham. Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week. Shifts: Evenings, nights, weekends.

Support workers provide practical assistance and emotional support to empower people to achieve their goals and aspirations, respecting everyone’s individuality and enabling them to make appropriate choices to live the life they want. Support is required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Role

To provide support to empower the people we support to achieve their goals and aspirations, respecting everyone’s individuality and enabling them to make appropriate choices to live the life they wish, in line with their individual support plans.

Promote the health, well‑being, physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual beliefs of the people we support and ensure they are met in an inclusive way.

Support Nurses with the delivery of complex health support.

Facilitate social, educational or work activities such as visiting family and friends, supported employment, walks, shopping and other recreational activities of their choice.

As part of the role, you will need to be able to complete a range of records and documents.

About The Service

The Dispensary – Swanton Care is a stunning care home situated in a quaint picturesque village close to Durham city. We are a new service, recently opening in May 2023 where we offer superbly adapted apartment style living to 5 people who require specialist care and support who live with complex needs including Autism, Learning disabilities and physical disabilities.
