A care support organization based in Kinson is seeking a Support Worker to assist an active gentleman in his 40s with profound learning disabilities. The role involves personal care, engagement in various activities, and maintaining communication with family members. No experience necessary, as training will be provided. Every Sunday: 7am - 10pm or 7am - 8.30pm
Supporting a Gentleman in his 40s who is very sociable, active and enjoys going out many times through the day, including trampolining, swimming (2:1) and going for a Toby Carvery. He enjoys walks in his wheelchair and outings in his car - so you must be prepared enjoy going out in all weathers! He likes lots of sensory stimulation when at home so enjoys listening to nursery rhymes and playing with sensory toys.
He has epilepsy (has not had a seizure in a long time) and profound learning disabilities. He is partially sighted, so needs support with all aspects of his life such as personal care, preparing meals, doing activities and that his home is kept clean and tidy, which will be an essential task.
Due to being unable to communicate verbally and needing lots of sensory stimulation, he can express self-injurious behaviour when bored or being unable to go out when he would like to.
He has a lot of family who are involved and it is important for him that staff keep his family updated regularly with how he is.
