Job summary

Suffolk County Council is recruiting a Reablement Support Worker for the Home First service across Suffolk. You will help customers and their family carers to improve health, wellbeing and independence in their own homes, delivering compassionate, personalised care from a dedicated team.

No prior experience is required as you will receive full induction and in-depth training, with access to a funded Level 2 Health and Social Care qualification.

  • Bury St Edmunds - 3 positions available (16 hours per week)

Home Firstprovides short-term reablement care to help people stay independent in their own homes. As a Reablement Support Worker, you will be part of a caring, dedicated team making a real impact in your community.

You will require a valid driving licence and access to a car, but apart from that no experience is required, as you will receive:

  • a full induction and in-depth training
  • ongoing support from your team
  • the opportunity to complete a fully funded Level 2 Health and Social Care qualification.

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will build and maintain positive relationships with customers and their family carers, promoting health, wellbeing, and independence.

You will support individuals through personalised care plans and short-term enablement strategies, offering guidance to help them make informed choices.

At times, you will assist with dignified personal care needs and engage with customers and carers to explore alternative ways of meeting long-term needs.

You will also promote services that enable safe, independent living at home, monitor progress against care plans, and maintain accurate records to support ongoing reviews.

Flexible hours and salary

We offer a variety of shift patterns, including early (7 am - 3 pm) and late (2.30 pm - 10.30 pm). For those on a 16-hour flexible contract, shorter shifts are also available: 7 am to 11 am or 6.30 pm to 10.30 pm. All full shifts include a 30-minute unpaid, unallocated break. Whether you prefer mornings, evenings, or flexible hours, we have options to fit your schedule and help you achieve a great work-life balance.

The salaryfrom £25,185 per annum comes with performance-related pay progression and potential earnings up to £28,142per annum (pro rata).

You will receive:

  • payment for mileage, travel time, and any hours worked on bank holidays
  • an enhanced rate of time and one-fifth per hour for Sunday shifts
  • access to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)
  • wellbeing support, childcare vouchers, and high street discounts
  • refer-a-friend bonus up to £100 (terms and conditions apply).

Travel requirements

This role involves travelling to peoples’ homes in rural locations and driving in various weather conditions, including during hours of darkness, which may occur early in the morning or late in the evening. You will therefore require a valid driving licence and access to a car.
