Overview

About the Role
We are currently recruiting for experienced Support Workers to join our supported living service based in Ilkeston. This is a rewarding and varied role, providing high-quality care and support to adults with autism, learning disabilities and behaviours that may challenge.

As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in promoting independence and enhancing the quality of life for the people we support. You will be responsible for delivering person-centred care, both within the supported living setting and out in the local community, encouraging service users to access activities, appointments and social opportunities.

This role requires individuals who can use their own initiative, work confidently without constant supervision, and remain calm and professional in challenging situations.

Responsibilities
  • Providing direct support to adults with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs
  • Supporting individuals with daily living skills, including meal preparation, personal care and household tasks
  • Administering medication in line with care plans and company procedures
  • Assisting service users to access the local community, attend appointments and take part in activities of their choice
  • Promoting independence, dignity and respect at all times
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Using effective communication strategies, including supporting individuals who may have limited verbal communication
Requirements
  • Previous experience working in a supported living or similar care setting
  • Experience supporting adults with autism and behaviours that challenge
  • Moving and handling trained
  • Confident and experienced in administering medication
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • A positive, proactive and person-centred approach to care
  • Good communication skills and a caring, reliable nature
