Hours:

Full time (36 hours) / Part time (Up to 24 hours) / Bank Staff (0 Hours)

About the Role:

We have an opportunity for experienced support workers for both day and waking night shifts to join our Residential Family Assessment Unit based in Reading, Berkshire. We are looking for enthusiastic and committed people who are reliable and able to offer emotional and practical support to our families (Parents / Carers and children up to 2 years old).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all families within the Residential Families Assessment Unit and in the community.
  • Contribute to the provision of a secure, stable, supportive environment for the families which respects and promotes their health, culture, religion, race, identity and lifestyle.
  • Maintain and promote family residential support work to high levels of professionalism expected by Ofsted under regulation The Residential Families Centres Regulations 2002.
  • Keep clear and accurate records, ensuring that good quality report logs are maintained as required.
  • Act as a good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and good organisation skills.
  • Be an active team player and work on own initiative.
  • Commit to good practice and a positive team approach to work.
  • Commit to equal opportunity and challenge any discriminatory and oppressive practices.
  • Ensure the unit is kept clean and tidy.
  • Encourage parent/carers to participate as appropriate.
  • Use Microsoft Office application competently.
  • Adhere to GDPR and respect confidentiality of all matters in respect of families.
  • Report matters of concern to Manager Lead Family Practitioner within appropriate policy timeframes.
  • Complete all mandatory training (Face to Face or Online).
Shift Pattern:

This role is not a 9.00am to 5.00pm and will require the applicant to be flexible.

  • 12-hour Shifts.
  • Waking Night Shifts.
  • Weekend Shifts.
Education & Experience:
  • Preferable one of the below qualifications: Any Social Work Qualification (e.g., Newly Qualified); Students studying Social Work (1st, 2nd or Final Year); NVQ (Children) Level 3 and above.
  • Preferable experience within Residential Family Support in a Parent and Child Unit, Children’s Centre, School / Nursery or Local Authority.
