Job summary

A community support organization based in Leytonstone is seeking dedicated Support Workers to provide day-to-day assistance for individuals with disabilities. As a Support Worker, you will ensure the well-being of clients while supporting their participation in various activities. The role requires NVQ2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent, alongside strong communication and positive behaviour support skills. Flexibility and teamwork are essential to meet the diverse needs of all clients in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

  • NVQ2 Health and Social Care or equivalent qualifications.
  • GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths is required.
  • First Aid qualification is necessary.
  • Experience in supporting adults with disabilities is essential.
  • Experience delivering training activities for adults with disabilities is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate appropriately with diverse individuals.
  • Ability to provide positive support to clients.
  • Ability to work independently responding to client needs.
  • Good IT skills are a must.

Job description

This is an on‑site, full‑time role based in Leytonstone. Our Support Workers are responsible for providing day‑to‑day support for individuals with disabilities, facilitating activities and skills development. Support workers ensure the well‑being of the individuals under their care in a safe, nurturing and welcoming environment. You’ll be part of a friendly team and will be expected to work flexibly across the service to ensure client needs are met.

Main tasks
  • Provide on‑going support to clients throughout the day, during all activities and in break times.
  • Support clients to participate in activities, helping them to achieve their goals.
  • Provide ’active support’ in line with clients’ individual plans and risk assessments.
  • Assist with activity planning and risk assessments.
  • Lead activities as needed, both on site and in the community.
  • Assist with record keeping such as daily reports, case diary sheets and contribute to client reviews as needed.
  • Promote the health and wellbeing of all clients.
  • Ensure the health, safety and welfare of clients and staff is always given priority.
  • Work with other team members to ensure smooth running of the daily programme.
  • Work in line with Day Opportunities principles, company policies and procedures, with specific regard to the safeguarding of vulnerable adults.

Person Specification
  • NVQ2 Health and Social Care (or equivalent suitable qualifications).
  • GCSE grade C (or equivalent) or above in English and Maths.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Experience in supporting adults with learning and associated disabilities to enhance their skills.
  • Experience of delivering training activities for adults with learning and associated disabilities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to provide positive behaviour support.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and respond to individual client needs.
  • Good IT skills.
