A leading care provider in Frome is looking for a Support Worker to assist a 76-year-old man with daily routines and emotional support. The role involves 30 hours per week with a mix of day, night, and sleep shifts. Ideal candidates will have experience in care and a relevant NVQ qualification. The position requires a full driving licence and involves working closely with the client to enhance their quality of life.

We have a great opportunity for a Support Worker in our client's home and community in the Frome area.
The client is a 76-year-old man who was involved in a road traffic accident in July 2013 in which he sustained severe injuries including a head injury and fractures to the right side of his body. He is fully mobile and does not depend on any walking aids. He was also diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia in January 2025. The client struggles with memory (short and long term), planning or organizing, slowness of thinking, headaches, fatigue, mobility issues, and speech and language issues. He requires support to establish and maintain routines and regular prompts. He occasionally requires support to manage his emotions and behaviour. The client has regular input from support workers to follow a structured weekly routine. Physiotherapy and speech and language therapy reviews are arranged when required. The client is supported to enjoy regular holiday breaks with his wife.
Hours 30 hours per week

At the minimum, applicants will be expected to have some experience of caring for people with physical or learning disabilities.
Applicants with an NVQ (or equivalent) in care are preferred.
Applicants must have a full driving licence and will be required to drive the client's vehicle. This position requires a fully enhanced disclosure request from the DBS, which the employer will obtain and fund on your behalf. You will also be required to register with the DBS Update Service.
