Job summary

Cambian Group Plc, in partnership with By the Bridge, seeks a Sessional Placement Support Worker for hybrid work in East Anglia with regional travel. You will partner with foster families, children, and young people to promote safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes, following care plans and supervising social workers.

Responsibilities include direct work with children and foster parents, recording visits, supporting stability, transport to school, and promoting equality and safeguarding.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of safeguarding best practices and Ofsted requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with children, carers and professionals.
  • Strong organisational and IT skills with MS Word/Excel/Outlook.

  • Provide needs-led support per care plans for children looked after.
  • Complete direct work with children and foster parents; record visits.
  • Contribute to stability plans to minimise placement disruption.
  • Support independence and wellbeing outcomes for children.
  • Help with transport to school, supervision of contact, and practical family support.
  • Maintain accurate records and promote equality and inclusion.

Sessional Placement Support Worker

Location: East Anglia (Hybrid working with regional travel) Salary Range: £25,000 pro rata

To work in partnership with foster families, children, and young people to promote safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes.

To collaborate with supervising social workers, therapeutic teams, and external partners to provide co-ordinated support.

Role Responsibilities & Objectives
  • Provide timely, needs-led support aligned with care/support plans for children looked after and support to birth children
  • Complete direct work with children and foster parents and record visits (e.g. Child seen, welfare visit, missing visit, additional unannounced visit, safeguarding supporting visit)
  • Contribute to stability plans – working directly with children and families via planned support (to include outside of 9am – 5pm Mon to Fri) to minimize placement disruption
  • Provide direct support to improve outcomes for children in all wellbeing areas.
  • To include transport to school, planned supervision of contact, practical support to families/children
  • Undertake work to support independence
  • Plan/contribute to events for children and families and lead participation, feedback and consultation
  • Maintain accurate records and share information appropriately
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion
  • Adhere to data protection and health & safety policies
  • Work in line with organisational values, policies, and procedures
  • Undertake reasonable additional duties; JD may be updated for operational needs
Person Specification
  • Knowledge of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding best practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with children, carers and professionals
  • Self-motivated with a professional, positive attitude
  • Effective organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload efficiently
  • Proficient in IT systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience using database systems (advantageous but not essential)
