Job Title: Support Worker

Responsible to: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer (Mum)

Hours: 6 hours per week

Hourly Rate of Pay: £12.21

Based at: Employer’s own home in Rougham, Suffolk and out in the local community

Job Purpose

The purpose of the job is to support and be a friendly companion to a 6 year old boy with CTNNB1 (similar to cerebral palsy). The child lives at home with his family. The purpose is to build a trusting, professional relationship with the child and to support him with all his needs. The child is non-verbal, loves being outdoors and is very friendly.

Responsibilities
  • To support with: Personal care e.g. washing, dressing and changing nappies.
  • Constant supervision is required at all times.
  • Support with all safety aspects.
  • To be a social friendly companion to the child.
  • You will be required to keep him entertained in the home.
  • To build a supportive relationship and take part in activities which the child enjoys, such as going on walks, going to the park, playing on the trampoline etc.
  • To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.
Personal Specification
  • Flexible in the hours and times that you can work.
  • Have a good sense of humour and enjoy a friendly joke.
  • You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • You should have knowledge and understanding of risks.
  • Be patient and supportive.
