Job description
Overview

We’re on the hunt for genuinely caring, hands-on Female Support Workers with a passion for enhancing the quality of life of the people we support. As a support worker you’ll help people gain more independence in their daily lives, while working within a dynamic team to support a fantastic group of people. Our supported living service in Shipdham is a welcoming and friendly environment, and you can expect that no two days will be the same. You’ll enhance the lives of the people we support by teaching them new life skills, assisting with personal care, encouraging them to access their local communities, socialising and doing activities. One day you could be out with the people we support in local bars and pubs, the next you could be unwinding with them by playing video games, watching films or going to the cinema. This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a difference to someone’s life and help them grow in confidence and independence so that they meet their goals (for example, making dinner by themselves or going on holiday).

We are looking for Support Workers who have the right experience and values. At this service, our Support Workers should hold a full UK driving license, be resilient, flexible and composed in their approach, have experience with following Positive Behaviour Support plans and reflective practice, and have experience working with individuals requiring enhanced support, including behaviours of distress, mental health conditions, autism, forensic histories and people who have experienced trauma.

Responsibilities
  • Help people gain independence in daily living activities and learn new life skills.
  • Assist with personal care when needed and encourage participation in everyday tasks.
  • Encourage involvement in local communities, socialise with others, and take part in activities.
  • Support out-of-home activities (e.g., visiting local bars and pubs) and in-home activities (e.g., playing games, watching films, going to the cinema).
  • Promote confidence and progression towards personal goals (e.g., cooking dinner independently, planning holidays).
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Resilient, flexible and composed approach.
  • Experience with following Positive Behaviour Support plans and reflective practice.
  • Experience working with individuals requiring enhanced support, including behaviours of distress, mental health conditions, autism, forensic histories and trauma.
  • Equality Act note: Some roles may indicate genuine occupational requirements for male or female employees where applicable.
Benefits and Development
  • Excellent training programme starting at induction and continuing through your career, with opportunities for promotion and progression.
  • Job security in a sector-leading organisation.
  • Enhanced evening and weekend pay at an additional 50p per hour (Ts & Cs apply).
  • Premium overtime rates at an additional £1 per hour (Ts & Cs apply).
  • Wagestream — access a portion of earned pay when you need it.
  • Funded Blue Light Card — hundreds of discounts at high street retailers.
  • 24/7/365 doctor line for colleagues and their families.
  • Access to cash plans for colleagues and their families.
  • Enhanced retirement leave and long service awards.

  • Role: Support Worker - [Ditchingham].
  • Salary: £12.55 up to £14.05 per hour with overtime and evening/weekend enhancements (Ts & Cs apply).
