Job description

A great opportunity has arisen for a full-time Band 3 Support Time and Recovery Worker to join our team in the Acute Therapy Service (ATS) based at Bridge House in Blackburn. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and reliable worker to support us to continue delivering a psychologically led service that provides an alternative to inpatient admissions and also facilitates early discharge from the inpatient units.

Overview

The aim of the ATS service is to provide brief structured psychological input, practical, occupational and social support and respite in a safe and containing environment.

  • Working pattern (hours): Full Time
  • Hours/sessions per week: 37.5 hours per week
Responsibilities

The successful post holder will have experience of working in Mental Health Services and the duties will include:

  • Direct involvement with service users; you will help to provide and facilitate a therapeutic responsive service for adults with mental health difficulties. This will involve supporting service users to implement coping strategies learned in the ATS service.
  • Co-facilitate and deliver groups.
  • Receive regular management and clinical supervision, with opportunities to develop clinical and professional practice in line with service user needs and the organisation’s values.
  • Support to carry out this role without direct supervision on completion of the initial induction programme.
  • Facilitate and maintain effective liaison with statutory and non-statutory agencies in the community, and other appropriate agencies involved in the service users’ care.
  • Maintain effective communication both within and outside of the clinical team to ensure that service users’ needs are met.
  • Communicate with service users to maximise their involvement and understanding of their condition, care and treatment, which may involve providing information and using skills to overcome barriers in an empathic and reassuring manner.
  • Participate in both clinical and managerial supervision.
  • Provide both verbal and written feedback to colleagues regarding service users’ presentation.
  • Ensure that changes to the unit environment including accidents, incidents and complaints are relayed to senior staff and reported and documented according to trust policy.
  • Assess and implement risk management measures within the scope of responsibility.
  • Be aware of factors affecting own health and safety at work and that of others.
  • All actions must be reported in writing on electronic notes and any untoward incidents discussed immediately with the team leader and staff.
