Job summary

M&S is seeking a Security Officer in Leeds to help create a safe, welcoming and secure environment for customers and colleagues. You will operate in a fast-paced retail setting, stay vigilant, and be ready to step in when needed.

You'll balance customer service with security duties, respond to incidents, and support safe store operations across multiple Leeds locations with a guaranteed 40 hours per week. A calm, professional approach and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous security experience is preferred.
• A valid SIA licence is desirable, although not essential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure environment across our stores.
• Deliver excellent customer service and greet customers as they shop.
• Prevent loss, respond to incidents and support safe ways of working.
• Utilise store technology, including mobile reporting and body-worn cameras.
• Stay calm under pressure and act professionally at all times.
• Work closely with colleagues to maintain high standards and assist operations.

• You'll help keep our stores safe and secure. From preventing loss and responding to incidents, to identifying risks and supporting safe ways of working, you'll play a key role in protecting the M&S environment.
• Being digitally confident is essential. You'll use store technology, including mobile reporting systems and body-worn cameras, to support store operations and incident management.
• You’ll stay calm under pressure. Whether responding to challenging situations or supporting emergency procedures, you’ll always act professionally and confidently.
• Being a team player is crucial. You'll work closely with store colleagues to maintain high standards, support operations and create a positive environment for everyone.
• Flexibility is vital. Retail moves fast and every day is different. You'll adapt quickly to changing situations to support the store when needed.
