Job summary

The Richmond Fellowship Scotland is recruiting for part-time Support Practitioners in Dumfries. No prior care experience needed as training is provided, including a fully funded SVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care. A UK driving licence for manual vehicles is required, but access to your own car is not necessary.

Roles involve 30 hours per week, mainly 8pm–8am shifts, with potential night duties. We seek individuals with a willingness to learn, ideally with some epilepsy/ rescue medication

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals to live as independently as possible in their own homes.
  • Assist with medication, general housework, meals and personal care.

Job description

One of our services in Dumfries are currently recruiting for Support Practitioners!

You do not need previous experience in Care to apply as we recruit on values and transferrable skills.

We'll give you all the training you need to be an amazing Support Practitioner including a fully funded SVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care!

However, for these posts we are only able to consider applicants who have a UK Driving Licence for manual vehicles. Access to your own car is not required.

This is a part time post consisting of 30hrs per week worked normally as 3 shifts over 7 days. The bulk of these shifts will be 8pm to 8am so ability to commit to waking nights is essential.

Preferably we would be looking for someone with previous experience of working with epilepsy and rescue medication.

The Richmond Fellowship Scotland provides personalised and outcome-focused support to over 2800 individuals in their own homes across Scotland, making us the country's largest provider of social care. We support individuals with a variety of different needs such as physical and/or learning disabilities, ongoing mental health issues, alcohol or substance abuse and autism.

The Role:

As a Support Practitioner, you will support individuals to live as independently as possible in their own homes.

This can include assistance with medication, general housework, meal preparation and personal care.

You would also provide social support within the service, accompanying individuals to any hobbies/events that they have on and participating in hobbies at home!

All successful Support Practitioner applicants will be given a conditional offer - this is subject to the receipt of satisfactory references and PVG; having a conviction will not necessarily debar you from working in this sector. All new staff members will be required to register with the SSSC within 3 months of their start date.
