Job Overview

This post is for internal candidates at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. If you are not currently working within the Trust, your application will not be reviewed. The Support Medical Secretary will provide support to Respiratory Secretaries at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. Band 3, 18.5 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce accurate clinical and general correspondence, using complex and sensitive medical terminology from audio transcription.
  • Respond to telephone calls from anxious and distressed patients, handling contentious, sensitive and difficult enquiries appropriately.
  • Work alongside other Medical Secretaries, supporting the workload of Consultants and ensuring an efficient service.
Qualifications
  • RSA level 3 or equivalent.
  • Excellent audio typing skills.
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Experience within a medical environment is desirable but not essential.
