Job summary

SiXworks in the United Kingdom (Farnborough) is seeking a Support Engineer to tackle challenging technical problems in secure environments. You will work with engineers, architects, and delivery specialists to design, build, and deliver secure digital solutions for defence and national security missions.

Responsibilities include 1st/2nd line support, incident handling, user provisioning, PowerShell scripting, and close collaboration with security teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with PowerShell scripting in enterprise IT environments.
• Proficient in user provisioning and onboarding workflows.
• Understanding of security concepts such as MFA and Conditional Access.
• Familiarity with Atlassian ITSM tools and related workflows.
• Experience administering Windows Server environments.
• Knowledge of Group Policy creation and troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to write PowerShell scripts.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incoming tickets and provide status updates.
• Provide basic 1st/2nd line support for environments, escalate complex issues.
• End user support both desk-side and remote.
• Communicate incidents and maintenance to user community.
• Respond to monitoring alerts and triage to resolution.
• Document incident resolutions in tickets and knowledge base.
• Occasional travel to remote sites may be required.

We’re looking for a Support Engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical challenges and wants their work to have real operational impact.

5x a week in Farnborough

Highest level of security clearance required

What You’ll Do

As a Support Engineer, you’ll support our team to design, build, and deliver secure digital solutions in highly secure environments. You’ll work alongside engineers, architects, and delivery specialists to develop technology that enables faster, safer decision‑making for critical operations.

Your work may include:

• Respond to incoming tickets and provide ongoing feedback on progress.
• Providing basic 1st/2nd line support for our environments, services and infrastructure. Escalate to 3rd line for complex issues.
• End user support (desk-side and remote).
• Issuing comms to the user community for incidents and maintenance events.
• Respond to monitoring alerts, triage and eliminate where necessary.
• Ensure incident tickets are appropriately updated and maintained, and fed into the major incident process where necessary.
• Ensure incident resolutions are appropriately documented in the ticketing system and wider knowledge base.
• Occasional travel to remote sites may be required.

What We’re Looking For

We value people who take ownership, think critically, and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team tackling complex challenges. You don’t need to tick every box, but we’re particularly interested in people with skills/experience in:

• Running of PowerShell scripts
• End User Device provisioning, onboarding of users
• Understanding of security concepts (MFA, Conditional Access)
• Atlassian suite of ITSM equivalent tooling
• Windows Server support and administration
• Understanding of Group Policy (creation and troubleshooting)
• Writing of PowerShell scripts
