Job summary

Waythrough is seeking a compassionate Support Coordinator to work in the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller Housing, Health & Wellbeing Service in County Durham. You will provide personalised housing, health and wellbeing support, manage a caseload and build strong links with partner organisations to enable safe, sustainable outcomes.

The role requires driving and the ability to work across outreach locations, with 22 hours per week and a pro rata salary reflected in the advertised band.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting vulnerable adults to achieve greater independence.
• Knowledge of housing options, welfare benefits and relevant legislation.
• Experience of completing support planning, risk assessments and maintaining accurate case records.
• Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and best practice.
• Experience of working in partnership with a range of agencies and professionals.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

About The Service

The Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) Housing, Health & Wellbeing Service supports adults across County Durham to access safe accommodation, improve their health and wellbeing, and live independently. Working in partnership with local authorities, health services and community organisations, the service provides practical, person-centred support to people living on council sites, in social or private housing, and on roadside encampments.

Through outreach, advocacy and tailored support, we help reduce barriers to essential services while empowering people to achieve positive, lasting outcomes.

About The Role

We're looking for a compassionate and proactive Support Coordinator to join our dedicated team and make a real difference to the lives of people from the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller community.

This is a varied, community-based role where no two days are the same. You'll provide personalised housing, health and wellbeing support to adults across County Durham, helping them overcome barriers, maintain their independence and access the services they need to thrive.

You’ll manage your own caseload, carrying out needs and risk assessments, developing person-centred support plans and working alongside a wide range of partner organisations to help people achieve sustainable outcomes. The role also includes delivering tenancy readiness support, advocating on behalf of individuals and building positive relationships with communities that may traditionally face barriers to accessing services.

Whether you're supporting someone to secure suitable accommodation, improve their wellbeing or navigate local services, you'll play an important role in helping people live the life they value.

About You

We're looking for someone who is passionate about supporting people and committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred services.

You’ll be confident working independently within the community while also being a collaborative member of a supportive team. You’ll have excellent communication skills, be organised in managing a varied caseload and enjoy building positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.

As this is an outreach-based role across County Durham, you'll need to be able to drive and have access to a vehicle that can be used for work purposes.
