A leading humanitarian organization in North Norfolk is seeking volunteers for their Support at Home service to assist people in crisis. Volunteers will offer practical and emotional support, helping individuals regain their confidence and independence. Responsibilities include shopping, escorting to appointments, and helping with paperwork. Flexible time commitment available.
The aim of the Support at Home service is to offer support, encouragement and practical help to people in crisis, whether just leaving hospital or already in the community. From people recovering from illness, surgery or an accident, to struggling with a life changing event, Support at Home volunteers enable people to live as independently as they can at home, building trusting relationships and helping them regain their confidence and well-being. Working closely with health and social services colleagues, volunteers can make the difference in preventing an admission to hospital and supporting a timely discharge home.

This usually consists of weekly visits, which includes tasks such as shopping, confidence building, escorting to GP/hospital appointments and things like helping sort through mail/paperwork and assist to make phone calls.
