Loretto Junior School in East Lothian is seeking Supply Teaching Staff to cover short- and long-term absences from October 2026. Flexible hours and days apply, with roles across Year groups, including Early Years teams. Candidates must be qualified teachers and registered or eligible for GTCS registration.
Applicants should expect screening to verify suitability to work with children. The school values a supportive, secure environment and careful progress monitoring for each child.
Loretto Junior School is East Lothian’s leading independent Junior School for children aged 3 to 12 – with around 150 girls and boys in attendance. We enjoy an ideal location, right on the west bank of the River Esk and next to the local beach. Our catchment area is wide and we are easily accessed from Midlothian, Edinburgh and the Borders, with an extensive school transport service.
Loretto Junior School is a day school with boarders from age 11. Our Pre-School (ages 3 to 5) and Early Years (ages 5 to 7) are based at Eskbank, while Years 4 to 7 (ages 8 to 12) are at North Esk Lodge.
The North Esk Lodge is also the Junior School’s busy hub for all pupils, situated on a site close enough to the Senior School to share its facilities, but separate enough to allow our younger children to feel secure and happy in their own independent environment.
Loretto Junior School is looking for teachers able to join the team as Supply Cover from October 2026. This is to cover for staff who are absent at short notice due to illness or injury and for more extended periods of planned absence. This would be a flexible ongoing agreement, with opportunity to be employed for planned periods of extended cover, as well as short notice occasional days.
At Loretto, we believe that each child has a unique potential, and our mission is to enable them to achieve it to the fullest. Our priority is that all children feel happy, secure and valued. We provide a safe, enjoyable, welcoming environment, whilst at the same time enough structure to address each child’s needs, and closely assess their progress.
We are looking for Supply Teaching Staff to join the Junior School team. They may be working as part of the Y1-3 Early Years team, with the Y4-7 team or a combination of both.
Applicants must be prepared to undergo screening to confirm their suitability to work with children and young people. They must also be qualified as a teacher and registered or eligible for registration with the GTCS.
