Job description

The supply teacher plays a vital role in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment in the absence of regular teaching staff. This position involves supervising classes, ensuring that students remain engaged and on task, and supporting their educational needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a passion for working with children, particularly those with special educational needs or disabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise students in the absence of their regular teacher, ensuring a safe and orderly environment.
  • Implement pre-prepared lesson plans effectively while adapting to the needs of the students. You may also be required to deliver lessons using your own intuition.
  • Foster an inclusive atmosphere that supports students with disabilities and those on the autism spectrum.
  • Engage with students to encourage participation and maintain focus on tasks.
  • Provide support for individual students as needed, including tutoring and mentoring.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding student progress and behaviour.
  • Assist in the development of creative writing activities to enhance student engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and behaviour during sessions.
