Job summary

Matalan in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Test Lead for Supply Chain systems to own the end-to-end testing lifecycle, from strategy and plans through to execution and release readiness.

You will work across both project and BAU activity, ensuring testing is embedded from the beginning and that risks and issues are identified and managed effectively.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading testing teams within distribution, logistics or supply chain.
  • Strong knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ideally with experience of Manhattan WMS.
  • Experience working with Warehouse Control Systems (WCS), logistics platforms and warehouse automation.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience of APIs.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver test strategies, plans and schedules across multiple projects.
  • Confident managing defects, risks, testing resources and release readiness.
  • Highly organised, with excellent planning, reporting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communicator who can build effective relationships with IT, project teams, warehouse operations, suppliers and senior stakeholders.
  • Experienced in leading, mentoring and developing teams to deliver high-quality results.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Passionate about continuous improvement, using lessons learned and data to improve testing processes and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement test strategies for Supply Chain systems (Warehouse Management Systems and Automation Systems).
  • Ensure test resources are allocated and engaged from the start of project lifecycles.
  • Allocate and oversee testing resources across multiple projects, balancing workload and timelines.
  • Identify, assess, and resolve defects and risks to minimize disruptions to timelines and quality.
  • Assess test results and provide recommendations regarding release readiness and residual risk.
  • Engage with project managers, warehouse teams, and IT to align testing objectives with business needs.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and report testing progress, ensuring milestones meet quality standards.
  • Ensure Environments are understood, managed and maintained to ensure quality testing.
  • Mentor and lead Supply Chain systems analysts to drive effective performance.
  • Adapt testing strategies to accommodate evolving system and business requirements.
  • Support incident and problem management where production issues require test or quality analysis.

Job description

You’ll take ownership of the end-to-end testing lifecycle, from developing test strategies and plans through to execution, defect management, reporting and release readiness.
