Job summary

Foodstuffs South Island is seeking a Packaging Advisor to ensure pallets, crates and packaging assets move efficiently across the supply chain and support cost-control initiatives. You will collaborate with the Distribution Centre, Transport, Retail, Wholesale and supplier partners to improve visibility and accountability.

The role is based at the Hornby Distribution Centre in Christchurch, full-time, 40 hours weekly, with hours 7:00am to 6:00pm; base salary is NZ$80,000–NZ$92,000 dependent on

Qualifications

  • Experience in logistics, warehousing, supply chain or inventory management to track and reconcile assets.
  • Attention to detail with strong reconciliation and data accuracy skills.
  • Ability to analyse operational data and spot meaningful trends.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and investigate discrepancies; resolve reconciliation issues promptly.
  • Monitor asset movements and balances to ensure process compliance.
  • Coordinate packaging stocktakes across distribution and retail operations.
  • Manage packaging management systems and ensure integrity of automated transactions.
  • Prepare reports highlighting performance, discrepancies, losses and recovery actions.
  • Drive process improvements and promote efficient ways of working.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Business Services Manager, you'll work closely with our Distribution Centre, Transport, Retail, Wholesale and supplier partners to improve visibility, recovery and accountability.

This role is based at our Distribution Centre in Hornby, Christchurch and is worked 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with hours worked between 7:00am and 6:00pm. The base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $92,000, dependent on skills and experience.

About you:

You'll come from a logistics, warehousing, supply chain or inventory management background, with experience tracking and reconciling assets and ensuring they are accurately accounted for. Ideally, you'll also bring:



  • Experience working with operational systems, reporting and processes that support effective asset control and inventory accuracy.

  • Strong reconciliation skills and a high level of attention to detail.

  • Experience analysing operational data and identifying meaningful trends.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and work effectively across multiple teams.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving operational issues.

  • A continuous improvement mindset and a willingness to challenge the status quo.
