Description

Reports to: Senior Finance Manager - Business Partnering

Key Stakeholders: Accounting Team, Supply Chain Directors, Heads of Supply Chain, Global Carrier Manager, Logistic Managers

This role is focussed on business partnering for our Supply Chain function, who operate 5 Distribution Centres to deliver to our 400 Retail Stores in 10 countries and direct-to-consumers through partnerships with various logistics suppliers. Supply Chain is a key enabler to our ambitious growth strategies.

You will work as part of a wider business partnering team to drive the finance agenda for our Supply Chain function. You will work closely with SLT Directors to drive financial understanding and tight budget control. The role both reports the monthly P&L results (delivered by an engine room accounting team) and works looking ahead with forecasting, budgeting and risk & opportunity analysis.

Key Responsibilities

P&L Reporting & Commentary

  • Identify drivers of overspend and support and challenge the Retail team to ensure delivery and control of their budget. Hold monthly review meetings with the Online teams to feedback actionable insight into the result.
  • Deliver P&L commentary that demonstrates comprehensive understanding of cost drivers and variance analysis to budget and prior year.
  • Continuous evolution of month end reporting and analysis to better communicate financial performance to key stakeholders to support decision making.
  • Support the development of a culture of financial awareness and cost control.
  • Hold commercial review meetings with the Retail Directors and their teams to feedback actionable insight into the result and improve business performance.
  • Support the Accounting Team with your expert retail knowledge and insight to ensure accurate management account reporting.
  • Using the Weekly Reporting produced by the Accounting Team, ensure accurate understanding of all Supply Chain costs to enable timely decision making.

Planning

  • Work closely with the Supply Chain team to deliver annual budget and forecasting cycles to agreed deadlines.
  • Support the Supply Chain team with financial planning and decision support, using the insight and knowledge gained from internal reporting.
  • Providing finance support to Supply Chain projects, from initial costings to size and prioritize projects through to detailed financial workings to enable business decision making and tracking of realized benefits.

Other

  • Develop and mature a close working relationship with the Supply Chain team so that finance input on strategic, commercial and operational decisions is sought as a matter of course.
  • Maintain effective working relationship with 3rd Party Logistics providers, challenging cost control and transparency of reporting.
  • Ongoing non-business as usual project work within the finance team as and when required.

  • Qualified accountant with 3+ year PQE working in a large company.
  • Supply Chain experience strongly preferred.
