Job summary

Alexander Steele Recruitment is helping a food manufacturing business in Harlesden, London recruit a Supply Chain Coordinator. The role is Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm with 1 day working from home and up to £35,000 depending on experience.

You will manage purchasing of raw materials and services, support demand forecasting and inventory planning, monitor supplier performance, negotiate contracts, and drive cost reductions across purchasing, warehousing and distribution.

Qualifications

• Experience in supply chain, purchasing, materials planning or procurement.
• Desirable in food manufacturing, FMCG, or manufacturing environments.
• Strong organisational and planning abilities.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Commercial awareness with negotiation ability.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage purchasing of raw materials, packaging, and external services.
• Support demand forecasting and inventory planning to ensure material availability.
• Monitor supplier performance and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Obtain quotations and negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs across purchasing, warehousing and distribution.
• Coordinate material planning to optimise stock levels and minimise waste.
• Develop contingency plans to reduce supply chain risks and maintain continuity of supply.
• Assist with sourcing activities for new product development projects.
• Track and report supply chain KPIs and propose improvements.
• Work with Production, Operations, Quality and other departments to meet business objectives.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and health & safety standards.
• Maintain awareness of industry developments and best practices.

This is an excellent opportunity for a supply chain professional to join a growing food manufacturing business and play a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of materials, inventory, and products throughout the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the purchasing of raw materials, packaging, and external services.
• Support demand forecasting and inventory planning to ensure material availability.
• Monitor supplier performance and maintain strong supplier relationships.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience within a Supply Chain, Purchasing, Materials Planning, or Procurement role.
• Experience within food manufacturing, FMCG, or a manufacturing environment is desirable.
• Strong organisational and planning abilities.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to negotiate effectively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
