Job summary

Siemens Mobility UKI is seeking a Supplier Quality Manager to lead supplier quality across RI UK&I manufacturing and project delivery. You will define the supplier quality strategy, govern processes, and drive cross-functional collaboration with Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and Delivery.

The role emphasizes risk-based supplier selection, audits, KPIs, and continuous improvement, with strong emphasis on data analytics and compliance with ISO standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or manufacturing or equivalent
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor qualification preferred
  • Experience leading quality investigations (RCCA, CAPA, problem solving)
  • Lead Auditor experience in supplier audits
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/45001/14001/27001 and application in large orgs
  • Experience developing Supplier Quality KPIs and monitoring performance
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent CI delivery experience
  • Strong IT skills incl. data analysis and digital workflow tools
  • CQI membership or accreditation desirable
  • Facilitation and presentation skills for group activities and workshops
  • Self-starter with autonomy in fast-paced environments
  • Experience in Supplier Quality Management in relevant industry

The role of the Supplier Quality Manager is to act as an expert to lead and act to improve supplier quality across SMO RI UK&I manufacturing and project delivery. The role sets a clear supplier quality strategy, including innovation and uses; data, advanced analytics and appropriate AI capabilities to identify risk, improve performance and support robust decision making. The role will drive business excellence and foster cross-functional collaboration across; Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering/R&D, Project Management and Delivery across the UK&I. The Supplier Quality Manager will build supplier relationships and work across the category and commodity teams. Focus areas include; Innovation, Supplier Cost of Poor-Quality reduction, Root Cause Investigations and Auditing compliance to all business requirements, certifications and regulations.

You’ll be responsible for
  • Supplier quality strategy and governance: Define, deploy and improve the Supplier Quality strategy to ensure adherence to Siemens processes. Reduce Cost of Poor Quality and improve governance.
  • Supplier selection, qualification and approval: Apply risk-based quality, compliance, sustainability and capability criteria to support supplier selection, sourcing decisions, qualification and approval. Maintain a level of market intelligence sufficient to provide insight to supply chain and leadership.
  • Supplier quality planning: Establish supplier quality plans, targets, acceptance criteria, controls and interfaces aligned to product, service, project and supplier criticality.
  • Supplier audits and assessments: Plan, lead and report supplier audits, assessments and reviews, ensuring actions are defined, followed up and verified for effectiveness.
  • Supplier performance management and development: Manage supplier quality performance, strategic status, integration, supervision and development activity with category and commodity teams.
  • Quality Insight, KPIs and escalation: Monitor and communicate at Executive level the outcomes of supplier quality status, risks, incidents, and KPIs. Advise senior leadership on effective action plans.
  • Non-conformance and problem solving: Lead and deliver effective containment, reporting, root cause analysis, corrective action across the organisation. (8D and other tools etc).
  • Risk, resilience and contingency planning: Identify, prioritise and verify supplier quality and supply-chain risks, driving mitigation, resilience and contingency planning with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Continuous improvement, innovation and analytics: Lead improvement programmes, lessons learned, digital workflows and data analytics to reduce risk, improve performance and create value.
  • Contracts, QAA, compliance and capability building: Define quality-related contract and Quality Assurance Agreement requirements, support compliance and sustainability expectations, and coach colleagues in SQM methods.
You’ll win us over with
  • Ideally a bachelor's degree in a relevant field (engineering or manufacturing) or equivalent education
  • Ideally ISO9001 Lead Auditor qualification
  • Experience in leading quality investigations (RCCA, CAPA, Problem Solving methodologies).
  • Lead Auditor experience within supply chains and conducting supplier audits.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/45001/14001/27001 and practical application within a large organisation.
  • Experience in developing Supplier Quality KPIs and monitoring performance.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (preferred) or significant experience delivering Lean/CI outcomes.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office, data analysis, AI tools and digital workflow tools.
  • CQI Membership or Accreditation (desirable)
  • Trained experienced Facilitator with the ability to present information clearly and unambiguously, both written and oral, and to lead/facilitate group activities and workshops.
  • Self-starter, comfortable with autonomy and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in a role within Supplier Quality Management in a relevant industry.
