Job summary

A leading quality management services provider in the UK is seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to represent a high-performance automotive OEM. You will focus on supplier qualification and capability assessment, ensuring suppliers meet stringent quality standards. The ideal candidate should have experience in automotive Supplier Quality, knowledge of key standards, and excellent communication skills. This role offers a contract rate of £350 per day.

Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and 8D.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and supplier capability assessment.

Job Opportunity: Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE)

High-End Performance Automotive Global Supplier Network

Contract GBP350 per day (Outside IR35)

G&P Quality Management Ltd. is seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to represent a prestigious high-performance automotive OEM. This role focuses on supplier qualification, capability assessment, and driving improvements across a global supply base, ensuring suppliers meet the OEM s stringent quality, process, and delivery standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, conduct, and report supplier qualification and process audits (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, VDA 6.3).
  • Assess technical capability, capacity, and quality/business systems of new and existing suppliers.
  • Lead supplier development initiatives, closing audit findings and improving process capability.
  • Support APQP and PPAP activities to ensure robust product and process launch readiness.
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCCA) and ensure timely corrective action implementation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing teams to resolve quality and supply issues.
  • Coach suppliers on OEM expectations and promote continuous improvement and lean practices.
  • UK, European, and occasional global travel may be required.
Experience & Knowledge
  • Proven experience in automotive Supplier Quality, auditing, or supplier development (OEM/Tier 1 preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and 8D.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and supplier capability assessment.
  • Skilled in data-driven problem-solving, lean tools, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and supplier engagement skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management tools.
Qualifications

Essential:

  • Technical qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality
  • OR equivalent industry experience

Desirable:

  • Lead Auditor (IATF 16949 / VDA 6.3)
  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
Candidate Profile

A highly experienced Supplier Quality professional with a strong track record of:

  • Conducting supplier audits and capability assessments
  • Leading supplier improvement programmes
  • Working with global OEMs or Tier 1s in high-precision environments
  • Communicating effectively across all levels, from shop floor to senior leadership

The role requires confidence, technical credibility, and the ability to complete approximately two supplier assessments per week with high accuracy and actionable outcomes.
