Job summary

Sammons in Alton, Hampshire, is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer on a 6-month temporary contract with hybrid working. The role focuses on supplier quality management, continuous improvement, and supplier development to ensure products meet the highest standards.

Offering hybrid working (3 days in the Alton office) and a salary up to £65,000, you will collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders in a highly technical engineering environment, with potential travel for supplier visits.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in a similar Supplier Quality/SQE role.
• Strong knowledge of quality management systems and Lead Auditor qualification.
• ISO auditing experience.
• Experience using quality improvement tools including APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, FMEA and Control Plans.
• Strong problem-solving experience using 8D, A3 or similar methodologies.
• Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement principles.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.

Responsibilities

• Manage and improve supplier quality and compliance against company quality requirements.
• Conduct supplier quality system audits and support the approval and ongoing qualification of suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance through quality scorecards and drive improvements where required.
• Work with suppliers and internal teams on FAIRs, PPAPs, Certificates of Conformity, Material Certificates, Control Plans and PDIs.
• Investigate supplier non-conformances, failed PPAPs and quality deviations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and closed out.
• Lead and support root cause investigations and corrective actions, using methodologies such as 8D and A3.
• Participate in Material Review Board meetings and support the disposition of non-conforming materials.
• Support the introduction and qualification of new suppliers.
• Work with suppliers on continuous improvement projects, workshops and training.
• Review customer specifications, technical drawings and build procedures.
• Support internal teams in achieving SQDC performance targets.
• Ensure raw materials and supplier products meet required specifications and compliance standards.

You’ll ideally have:

• An Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years’ experience in a similar Supplier Quality/SQE position.
• Strong knowledge of quality management systems and Lead Auditor qualification.

• Experience using quality improvement tools including APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, FMEA and Control Plans.

• Welding experience.
