Mechanical Supervisor

Location: HMP Swaleside, Brabazon Rd, Eastchurch, Isle of Sheppey ME12 4AX

Salary: £45,303.07 per annum

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Supervisor to join our team at HMP Swaleside, a CAT B men's prison. Join a team that is more than just colleagues - we work Monday to Sunday as a supportive family, creating a safe and nurturing environment.

HMP Swaleside operates like a self-contained city, requiring hundreds of staff to keep it functioning. As part of the Facilities Maintenance Team, your role is crucial in ensuring smooth and safe operations, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

As a Mechanical Supervisor, you will work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all committed to making a positive difference and providing a secure environment.

We are a Ministry of Justice business providing critical services to HMPPS. The ideal candidate will have:

1. Five years' experience as a plumber or equivalent
2. Knowledge of Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements
3. Experience with commercial or industrial heating, water, or building services systems
4. Supervisory experience
5. Plumber qualification to C&G 6035, C&G 6189, and NVQ Level 3 or equivalent

Desirable qualifications include First Aid at Work, facilities management, project management, and good health & safety knowledge. Strong organizational and people skills are essential.
