Job summary

GFSL seeks a Mechanical Supervisor (Plumbing) to lead a skilled team at HMP Belmarsh, overseeing heating, water and building services in a high-security environment. You will coordinate trades, ensure safety compliance and drive efficient service delivery.

With a background in plumbing qualifications and at least five years in FM or similar sectors, you will champion safety, planning and project execution while maintaining strong collaboration with prison staff and contractors.

Qualifications

• Five years’ experience, ideally within an FM environment and/or secure environment (military, health or similar).
• Experience working on commercial or industrial heating, water, or building service systems.
• Familiar with Water Supply Regulations and Legionella L8 requirements.
• Good Health & Safety knowledge.
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
• Broad knowledge of risk, compliance, planning and project management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters and other trades to ensure safe and secure facilities operation.
• Oversee maintenance and repair of heating, water and building services in a high-security environment.
• Ensure compliance with Water Supply Regulations and Legionella L8 guidelines.
• Collaborate with security, health and safety teams to plan and execute maintenance projects.

Mechanical Supervisor (Plumbing)

Location: HMP Belmarsh

Salary: £48,574.47 + an additional 5% basic salary in recognition of shift and weekend working

Contract: Full Time - Perm (39hrs per week)

Future Plans.

GFSL has been notified by it's shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
