Overview
As a Supervisor within Environmental Services, you will ensure the safe, professional, and efficient delivery of operational services. You'll lead and manage a dedicated team in a demanding commercial environment, overseeing day-to-day service delivery and ensuring standards, productivity, and quality are met while maintaining health and safety compliance.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate programme works as required.
- Ensure all documentation is completed within specified deadlines.
- Monitor and inspect work standards, addressing issues promptly.
- Implement contract requirements and specifications for all works.
- Communicate and achieve key performance indicators.
- Report progress and operational matters to your line manager.
- Contribute ideas for service improvements as part of the management team.
- Be available for emergencies and manage daily operational changes.
- Support continual improvement and best practice initiatives.
Commercial and Financial
- Manage resources proactively to meet and exceed commercial expectations.
People
- Recruit, induct, supervise, and lead colleagues effectively.
- Conduct regular performance management and resolve issues promptly.
- Manage training and development needs and coordinate courses.
- Promote health and safety, systems, and machinery best practices.
- Foster open communication and employee engagement.
Health and Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, including PPE.
- Uphold policies and procedures and distribute safety communications.
- Monitor daily inspection and reporting for plant and vehicles.
Qualifications
- Experience managing a team (management qualification desirable).
- Knowledge of Waste, Street Cleansing, or Grounds Maintenance (preferred).
- Proficiency in IT applications (MS Office and industry systems).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
- Driving licence.
- Understanding of employment and health and safety legislation.
- Financial and commercial awareness.
- Knowledge of logistics and route optimisation (desirable).
- HGV licence holder (desirable).
