Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic radiographer to join our friendly team at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. We are looking to recruit a radiographer to lead our A&E radiology services. This will involve clinical work in both A&E x-ray and CT, as well as working with A&E and our urgent care services to develop and improve radiology services. This is a particularly exciting time as we are imminently about to refurbish our A&E x-ray facilities.

We are a busy district general hospital, a leading cancer centre, leading maxillo-facial surgical centre and also have a minimal invasive cardiac unit offering both cardiac MRI and CT.

This rotation will include CT and A&E plain film and will involve some out of hours working. You will be expected to work with both CT and plain film superintendent radiographers and run both areas when required.

Significant experience as a radiographer working in both CT and plain film is essential. Previous CT authorising, leadership and RPS experience would be desirable. Opportunities for CPD are well supported including management and leadership courses as well as clinical development. All radiographers are expected to contribute to the training of our students.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the A&E X-ray department, ensuring the delivery of a safe, efficient, and patient-focused imaging service. Working closely with CT Superintendents and A&E teams, the role requires strong clinical leadership, effective service coordination, and a commitment to quality improvement. The post holder will also lead on staff development, performance monitoring, and service audits, contributing to strategic planning and ongoing service development.
