Job summary

The RAC is hiring a Superflex Roadside Mechanic to join our Guildford cluster, covering local areas and getting members back on the road quickly. You will work flexible shifts with early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

You’ll be equipped with a RAC van, fuel card, uniform, tools and a diagnostic kit from day one. Expect a competitive package with potential to earn up to £61,000 and a base salary of £55,869, plus London Weighting where applicable.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent with 2+ years’ experience.
• Or 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic with a full UK driving licence (fewer than 6 points).
• Invest in your technical development through RAC's structured pathway and accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Respond to roadside assistance calls and repair vehicles to get members back on the road.
• Manage your own kit and keep the van stocked.
• Provide accurate reports and use diagnostic tools to support members.

Flexibility deserves recognition – and we deliver. As a Superflex Patrol Roadside Mechanic, you’ll provide the adaptability our service relies on.

• Competitive salary:£55,869 basic salary (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance if applicable), with the opportunity to earn up to £61,000
• Weekly variety:You’ll work the on average 40 hours per week across the year, receiving your roster seven days in advance with your core working hours confirmed three days prior.
• Thrive outside of 9-5:Shifts will fall between 06:00 and 02:00, and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

Where you’ll work:You’ll be part of the Guildford cluster, covering areas like Guildford, Woking, Farnham, Camberley, Aldershot, Fleet, Godalming, Haslemere, Lightwater.

We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

What you’ll need...

Either: NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience or 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic and A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
