Job description
Summer Stock Music Director/Teaching Artist

Olney Theatre Center is looking for a music director for our summer camp program Summer Stock, a one-of-a-kind collaborative playwriting program for students in grades 4-6 (rising), inspired by our own summer stock theatre roots. Students will work with Olney Theatre artists daily, taking classes in acting, singing, dance, and playwriting. At the end of the two-week session, students will perform their music, choreographed dances, and original short plays for friends and family on the final Friday of each session at 2:00 pm.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead singing classes for two-week long summer camp focused on collaborative playwriting for students grades 4-6.
  • Work with lead teaching artist and choreographer.
  • Help facilitate and organize the final presentation for families.

Requirements

  • A can-do attitude and a willingness and enthusiasm to work with children in grades 4-6.
  • Some teaching experience in music and voice with children.
  • Experience with music directing and voice.
  • Flexibility and organizational skills
  • Excellent listening, problem-solving, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
  • Availability in person on site for 3-5 hours each day during Session 1: June 22-July 3, 2026 and/or Session 2: July 20-July 31, 2026 between 8:30 am-4:30 pm
  • Provide own transportation
  • Reliability and punctuality

Compensation: $1200
