Job summary

Balfour Beatty invites university students to join its 2027 Summer Placement Programme as Civil Engineer placements in the UKCS – Regional Scotland team. You will gain hands-on experience on major infrastructure projects, working both on site and in the office, with mentorship from experienced engineers to help you grow.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Civil Engineering degree, available for at least eight weeks between June and September, and eager to develop professional and technical skills

Qualifications

• Be studying towards a degree in Civil Engineering.
• Be available to complete a minimum of an 8‑week summer placement between June and September.

Responsibilities

• Gain hands-on experience supporting the delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
• Observe and contribute to site and office-based engineering activities.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical information.
• Support site inspections, surveying, quality assurance, and project monitoring activities.
