Job summary

Royal London invites penultimate or final-year students to join a 10-week Summer Internship Programme in Edinburgh, with opportunities across technology, data and AI. You’ll gain hands-on experience on real business challenges, supported by a People Leader and Buddy, and have the chance to apply for permanent roles or the graduate intake.

• Comfort using digital tools to solve problems and analyse information.
• Experience with Excel, SQL, Python, Tableau and Microsoft Power Platform tools is beneficial.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be part of a supportive, inclusive and collaborative team, contributing to meaningful work that makes a real difference for our customers, members and communities.

With support and coaching from your People Leader, you’ll gain hands‑on experience of life at Royal London, take ownership of meaningful pieces of work and contribute to real business priorities. Depending on your placement, you could use technology, engineering, data and AI to help Royal London:

• Create better products, services and experiences for customers and colleagues
• Use data and insight to support decision‑making and improve outcomes
• Respond to change, manage risk and meet legal and regulatory requirements
• Improve efficiency, productivity and business performance through innovation and automation
• Design, build and improve technology platforms, systems and solutions that support customers and enable the business to operate effectively

Working alongside experienced colleagues, you’ll develop valuable professional skills, behaviours and commercial awareness while building your confidence in the workplace. You’ll collaborate across teams, analyse information, solve problems and contribute fresh perspectives, gaining exposure to how technology, engineering, data and AI are applied across a wide range of roles, disciplines and business areas throughout Royal London.

Throughout the ten‑week programme, you’ll also work as part of a wider intern cohort on a group project, bringing together your learning and insights to develop recommendations that you’ll present to senior leaders at the end of the internship.

Who we’re looking for

• Penultimate or final‑year students from a technology, engineering, data, numerical or related degree discipline, such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Mathematics, Statistics or similar.
• We also welcome applications from students in other disciplines who can demonstrate a strong interest in technology, engineering, data and AI
• Comfortable using technology and digital tools to solve problems, analyse information and generate insights.
• Experience with tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, Tableau, Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps and Power Automate), Jira, Confluence, Github, Azure DevOps, Copilot or similar would be beneficial
• Curious, adaptable learners who embrace change and new ways of working
• Strong communicators with excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
• Organised self‑starters who can manage multiple priorities and take ownership of their work

• Assessment centres: January 2027
