Arup is offering a six-week Summer Internship for Mechanical Building Services Engineers to join our Buildings teams in Belfast. You will work within project teams to deliver professional services, collaborating with architects and other engineers to support sustainable building design.

Ideal candidates are in their final or penultimate year of a MEng/BEng in Mechanical, Architectural, or Building Services Engineering, with a strong interest in building design and a proactive mindset to learn

• Willingness to learn 3D and thermal software; able to communicate, calculate, and develop ideas into designs.

• Collaborate with Architects, Building Services, Building Physics, Geotechnical Engineers, Surveyors and Project Managers.
• Assist in designing building services and gaining exposure to multiple project stages from inception to site visits.

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for Mechanical or Building Services Engineering Summer Students to join our well-established Buildings teams across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for students with an interest in building design and sustainability who are eager to develop their skills in a professional environment to join a multi‑disciplinary this summer.

During this 6‑week Summer Internship you will work as part of project teams to deliver effective and professional services to our clients. Due to the multi‑disciplinary nature of our design teams, you will have the opportunity to work alongside Architects, Building Services, Building Physics and Geotechnical Engineers, Surveyors and Project Managers

For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

• You must be in your final or penultimate year studying towards a MEng or BEng in Mechanical, Architectural or Building Services Engineering, or equivalent
• Demonstrate strong motivation and passion for a career in building design
• STEM minded individuals who are keen to use their engineering acumen to design the services that make Buildings comfortable for their users. You need to be willing to communicate, calculate, keen to learn to use 3D and thermal software and proactive in developing ideas into designs. With opportunities to work on many aspects of the built environment from projects that have just started to the thought about to site visits looking at installed services in nearly completed buildings you need to enjoy a variety of types of work.
