Job summary

A leading engineering services firm is seeking a Substation Project Engineer with a degree in electrical engineering and at least 3 years of experience. This remote role involves project management responsibilities, creating site plans, and ensuring safety in high-voltage substation operations. A daily rate of £750 is offered, inside IR35, with a possible 6-month extension.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified electrical engineers are required.
• A minimum of 3+ years substation project engineer experience up to 400kV.
• Proven experience in high-voltage substation design, operation, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Creating outline scope, site location plans, primary plant layout for projects.
• Reviewing contractor/consultants detailed designs and witnessing Factory Acceptance Testing.

Key Accountabilities

• Creating outline scope, site location plans, primary plant layout and Single Line Diagrams for new build and asset replacement type projects, operating up to 400kV.
• Reviewing contractor/consultants detailed designs and witnessing Factory Acceptance Testing.
• Implementing safety by design principles to ensure that engineering and safety risks are adequately controlled.
• Support site and operational teams to ensure the quality of installations, with minimal risk to Network security.
• Evaluate tenders and procure and manage specialist services from consultants.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be degree qualified electrical engineers to be considered for this role.
• Previous Transmission experience required.
• A minimum of 3+ Years substation project engineer experience up to 400kV.
• Proven experience in high-voltage substation design, operation, and maintenance.
• Proficiency in project management.
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Full UK Working Rights.
