Job Summary
Substantive ENT Head and neck consultant
Applications are invited for the above post to join our expanding ENT team. The successful candidate will have vast head and neck experience and will complement the department's needs and future plans. The appointee will join the existing 16 consultants and will be required to make an on‑call commitment.
Main Duties
- Supervise and train junior medical staff.
- Share responsibility for beds on wards 9, Day ward, the Kinmonth Unit and paediatric wards at Leicester Royal Infirmary.
- Share responsibility for beds on the Medical Day Case Unit at Leicester General Hospital.
- Conduct clinical sessions as laid out in the job plan.
- Engage in teaching, research and administrative activities.
- Develop the service in collaboration with other ENT Consultants at University Hospitals of Leicester.
- Participate in the adult and paediatric on‑call rota, 1:8 frequency.
Other Duties
The successful candidate will be required to undertake managerial duties associated with the care of their patients and the running of their Clinical Department.

Salary and Contract
Salary: £109,725 to £145,478 per annum. Grade: Consultant. Permanent, full‑time. Reference number: 358‑7550420-CON.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Training – Essential
- MBBS or equivalent.
- Full GMC Registration.
- Fully Accredited for Higher Specialist Training or eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register within 6 months of interview.
- FRCS(ORL‑HNS) or equivalent.
- Current BLS certification.
- Fellowship in Head and Neck or evidence of plans to undertake fellowship.
Qualifications & Training – Desirable
- Membership of relevant specialist societies or associations.
- Higher degree (e.g., MSc, MD or equivalent).
- Special interest in robotics.
Experience and Clinical Skills – Essential
- Fully trained in Otolaryngology (ENT) surgery.
- Excellent clinical skills to meet all aspects of the Job Plan.
- Sound clinical judgment and analytical thinking.
- Proficient IT skills (web browser, Excel, Word).
- Willingness to develop skills and experience in areas of interest.
