We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join our Substance Misuse team at Gatwick IRC, an Immigration Removal Centre located at Gatwick.

Gatwick IRC is a detention centre based on the grounds of Gatwick Airport. The role will be to support the wider healthcare team as a Healthcare Assistant within the Substance Misuse Team.

Hours: 15 hours per week (2 days a week, any two days from Monday - Friday).

Salary: This position is part time; you will receive an annual salary up to £29,000 per annum FTE, depending on experience. This will be pro rata for the part-time hours.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Main duties of the job
  • Work with other members of the team, assessing needs of patients and assessing risks accordingly.
  • Provide evidence-based care to a caseload of psychosocial patients, seeking out, listening to, and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Provide a programme of psychosocial interventions, along with information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood borne viruses and safe sex practices.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care on a one-to-one basis and through group work, supporting the nursing and pharmacy teams in primary care within healthcare centres and on wings and house blocks.
  • Make a real difference as defined throughout our bespoke HiJ competency framework following our policies, procedures and always considering safeguarding.

Qualifications and experience
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Relevant degree/qualification or equivalent experience

  • Experience of working within the substance misuse multi-disciplinary framework, that includes housing, social care, healthcare, and mental health pathways
