Overview

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Stocken, a category C male prison in the county of Rutland. This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. This role offers excellent developmental opportunities and is a great environment to build on your experience within the Substance Misuse Service.

Hours

This is a full time role 37.5 hours rota over 7 days.

07:30 - 18:30 Mon - Fri

08:30 - 18:30 Sat & Sun

Salary

This position is full time; you'll receive an annual salary up to £29,723 per annum - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

As our new Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages, phlebotomy and assessment, treatment and the evaluation of patients care
  • This role will support the SMS NMP team in delivering medication and care to our substance misuse patients.
  • You will primarily be working within the clinical substance misuse team, although may be required to carry out duties in the primary care team
  • You will support the registered nurse in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received whilst promoting safe patient care and be willing to develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery

  • Hold a NVQ Level 2/3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent
  • Have experience in a care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
  • Any experience in substance misuse or mental health would be a bonus
  • Ideally second checking experience
  • Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
