Are you an experienced Substance Misuse Nurse looking to make a difference in a specialist healthcare setting? Service Care Solutions is currently recruiting for a dedicated Substance Misuse Nurse to join a reputable service in Harrogate on a 6‑month temporary contract, with a possibility of extension.

Job Details

Job Title: Substance Misuse Nurse
Position: Contract (6 months, potential for extension)
Hours: Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Pay Rate: £32.00 Ltd per hour
Start Date: Immediate

Candidate Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive assessments, care planning, and clinical interventions for clients with substance misuse needs.
  • Act as a senior clinical decision‑maker and provide expert guidance to nursing and support staff.
  • Supervise, mentor, and appraise staff to support ongoing professional development.
  • Promote evidence‑based, trauma‑informed, person‑centred care approaches.
  • Collaborate with psychosocial, mental health, and physical healthcare teams to ensure integrated service delivery.
  • Lead the development and review of clinical protocols, policies, and pathways aligned with national standards such as NICE.
  • Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical governance activities.
  • Ensure accurate data management via systems like SystmOne and NDTMS, maintaining compliance with CQC standards.
  • Coordinate opioid substitution therapy (OST), including detox planning and medication reviews.
  • Maintain effective partnerships with prisons, community services, and stakeholders for seamless patient care.
  • Manage workforce planning, rota management, and ensure safe staffing levels.
  • Uphold safeguarding, confidentiality, and information governance standards.
  • Facilitate service user involvement and peer‑led recovery initiatives.
  • Support research projects, audits, and reflective practice to enhance service quality.
