Main & upper scale (London Fringe) + TLR 2b (£6,249)
Full-time, Permanent – Required for September 2026
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Subject Leader for Geography to lead a committed subject team in a strong academic environment. Geography at Langley Grammar School is a popular, high‑performing and highly valued subject taught to all students in Years 7 to 9, with about 40 % of them choosing to study it at GCSE. There is also strong uptake at A Level in the Sixth Form, so the ability to teach to A Level is essential.
The subject team is cohesive and experienced; there is a well‑developed use of technology to enhance teaching and learning, and an extensive programme of fieldwork opportunities.
We welcome applications from experienced subject leaders or outstanding practitioners ready to take the next step in their careers and offer an exceptional working environment where staff and students thrive.
Langley Grammar School is a co‑educational 11–18 selective academy located within easy reach of Langley station and the M4. With around 1,280 students, over 370 of whom are in the Sixth Form, the school is heavily oversubscribed and attracts students from a diverse geographical area. The ethos supports students to become confident, well‑rounded, independent, creative, responsible and caring. It is a National Teaching School with a record of nationally recognised innovative practice and an Apple Distinguished School for its leading‑edge use of technology. Recent building programmes have created excellent sports facilities, a distinctive Sixth Form Centre and new classrooms, workshops, laboratories, ICT suites and communal areas. The school was inspected in 2021 by Ofsted and received an Outstanding rating in all categories.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including online checks, checks with past employers, and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Applications should be returned by midday on Monday 12 January 2026 to Mrs De Cheyne, Head’s PA, at vacancies@lgs.slough.sch.uk. Interviews will be held shortly thereafter. We reserve the right to interview promising candidates before the closing date.
